Unless you're an Olympic hopeful, personal trainer or super-human, exercising is something you struggle to fit into your schedule. For the working girl, this struggle usually results in the dreaded five a.m. five miler, the lunch break conditioning circuit or the after hours power hour. Some have even resorted to squeezing a Jillian Michaels video in around midnight or pulling double duty lifting weights while rehearsing the next day's presentation... I'm not naming names... ok, me. The problem is that most days there is simply not enough time to burn an adequate amount of calories to compensate for sitting at a desk all day and stay sane while avoiding any and all baked goods (mini pastries not included, they obviously don't have any calories).
If any of these methods are a part of your normal routine, you need to read this. My sister and I took a BLAST900 class last week and it changed my life, or at least my workout routine. The reason why it's named so intimidatingly is twofold - one, to put the fear of the interval gods in you and two, to signify the nine hundred calories you will burn during the hour you're there. For those that just did a double take, yes, that's NINE HUNDRED calories burned. I will warn that it is one of the more intense hours you'll spend on a treadmill but I can also guarantee that the combined aerobics and strength training will hit every major muscle group, including your heart. The best part is it destroys your calorie counter and still affords you time to meet friends for dinner, watch the Bachelorette and avoid having to work out at 0 dark thirty the next day.
If you live in the Atlanta area, I recommend this studio but classes are offered in almost every major city so start blasting. Most studios allow you to try a class for free, which means low commitment and high caloric slashing.
Work it out.
