A birthday is truly an occasion to celebrate. We believe they are best celebrated when you focus on the small, cherished details that make the individual who they are. Ditch the generic party hats and take time to think about what the birthday babe really wants, without regard to how the magazines define a perfect party.

This is not one size fits all. Some girls love getting dressed up and hitting the club, another may want to spend the day by the pool and another might want a home cooked meal followed by a black and white movie. Consider all your options, without the traditional limitations. If you get stuck simply ask yourself how they would describe their perfect day/night... then create it!
Food /
Have all of their favorites, from the finger foods to the drink recipe. If you're going out, choose either their go-to restaurant or one you know has been on their bucket list for a while and always, always pick up the tab! When it comes to dessert, don't just bake a cake, be intentional in choosing their favorite flavor or swapping the traditional cake for the dessert you know they die for every time they pass a bakery window.
Gift /
Always keep your ears open when they talk about an item they really want but may not be practical or affordable. The best gifts are the ones we drool over but would never buy for ourselves. If you hear them mention a piece of art or pair of shoes they really want, go ahead and buy it, even if it's a few months before their birthday... just be sure to hide it if they happen to live with you!
Card /
Birthdays are a perfect opportunity to communicate your love, as well as what you admire about them and how they have made an impact on your life. Whatever you do, don't miss this chance. Sweet words will last way beyond the thrill of opening a gift or popping a champagne bottle.
Here's to all of the birthday girls and their special days that certainly are occasions are worth celebrating!

What a lovely post! I like your party advice- sometimes when we're trying to throw the best birthday bash ever, we get away from what the birthday person might actually enjoy and get caught up in planning our ideal celebration (or the one we think other friends might most enjoy attending). And a sweet card is definitely the best gift to receive.
