stories | [e]learn, [re]learn

After finishing grad school, I would have bet my life savings (which, at the time reflected more of a credit than a debit) that my paper writing days were signed, sealed and delivered. That is until a bit ago when a new and entirely surprising delivery contained an acceptance letter to the Savannah College of Art and Design.

A few weeks ago, I began working towards a certificate degree in digital publishing, something that I am beyond interested in and excited about. However, my first day of class is a story that will be echoed through the online halls, or at least my living room, for semesters to come. Let me just say that the technology behind class connect sessions has greatly improved since my scholastic retirement... I might as well have been wearing a JanSport while roaming around campus with a map, signing the attendance sheet as an eighth year senior.

The truth is that embarking on an e-learning journey has become a process of learning to be challenged in new ways and mastering the art of the online discussion forum, yet again. If you have ever thought of going back to school, don't let the fear of age, experience or a failed grade keep you from the pursuit of knowledge. The difference between A+ and B- is minimal compared to what you will learn from re-learning.

  1. This is so true! It isn't about getting the grade, but what you actually learn in the classes that matter. Good luck in school!

  2. You're going to SCAD?!?!? I went there! It's such a great school. Expensive, yes, but the culture of the school is one in which the students feed off of each other.
