Regardless of where you live, when the first bit of cool hits the air and pumpkin spice lattes hit the coffee shop, we all run for the hills. Literally. We want to be out of the city, out of our offices, out of (enter whatever is keeping you on the daily grind here) and in the mountains. We all need an escape and a chance to feel the brightness of the season.
Whether it's a mountain weekend with girlfriends, a day trip just a few hours north, or a week at a Jackson Hole lodge (sigh), here are some pointers on what to pack for a chill, easy time away.
1/ The oversized cardigan will be your best friend at the cabin. It is so functional - layering well over anything and reminiscent of a pajama Saturday. Choose your favorite color but be sure it has a loose, boyfriend look.
2/ A leather duffle is good for the road or the plane's overhead compartment. To have a stress-free weekend only take the amount of stuff that fits in here, ladies! If you pack versatile pieces it will work in your fashion favor.
3/ I cannot stress how important a pair of Minnetonka moccasins really are. They are the epitome of a wonder lister's fall wardrobe. When you have leather, fringe and warmth all going your way - what else do you need? Find the color that best suits your skin tone and rock them until the spring.
4/ The classic plaid, wool scarf is making a come back. For some time we've seen everything but the lumberjack-esque neck warmer. However, it's classic colors and sharp look never went out of style.
5/ The Wayfarer shade is a must-have for a weekend in the mountains. It's a bit more polished than it's brother, The Aviator, and a nice change for the new season.
6/ Pick up a stylish hat for your trip. It's always fun to have a piece that says "Praise God, I'm not in my normal routine." Whether it's a toboggan, beanie, or ear muffs - make it your signature.
