There are some moments in life when worlds collide. For Emily and Allie, such a moment occurred during their freshman year of college. Both wide-eyed dreamers, the two girls were born and raised under the Florida sun. Emily grew up with a love of everything the Panhandle had to offer, including boat rides on the bay, oysters by the dozen and hours spent watching sunsets on the back porch. Allie spent most of her days covered in the South Floridian saltwater and has plenty of embarrassing baby bathing suit pictures to prove it. Em and Al, as they affectionately refer to one another, found each other in one of those cattle-call-esque freshman classes. Upon meeting, they quickly discovered their love for all things wondrous and the string of parallels that would come to define their friendship began to unfurl. Parallels like knowing every word to every Beyonce song ever made, not being able to make it past ten without a cup of coffee and being willing to forego groceries in order to pay for a plane ticket any day. This string of parallels, marked by an uncanny sense of connection, continues to build as their friendship is written into each other’s stories.
Since their college years, Emily and Allie have been able to share many adventures together, including backpacking Europe, moving to a new city, working first jobs and spending endless hours chatting about bucket listing and coming of age in a crazy world. Through all of their experiences, together and separate, they have learned that life is most often the reverse of what you might have expected… but they have also learned that the reverse is more beautiful than anything you could have imagined. The key to discovering this beauty, perhaps, is simply to stand and wonder. Welcome to The Wonder List, we are thrilled to have you!
Allie is originally from Hobe Sound, Florida, but now lives in the beautiful city of Atlanta. She has degrees in International Affairs and Arts Administration from Florida State University and currently works in marketing. She loves learning new languages, has a deep affinity for the ocean and could spend hours wandering the halls of an art museum. Her list of desired travel destinations grows by the minute and she cannot get through the day without watching at least a few minutes of the latest reality show. Rooted in hometown values, she is delighted to venture out on the journey that is discovering what life is really about… and having some wonderful stories to tell along the way.
Emily calls Port Saint Joe, Florida home, but welcomes Atlanta and the Peach State as her newest obsession. She graduated from Florida State University with a degree in Communications and currently develops brand education and training. She values “taking the long way around” and cherishes the little moments in life. She’s a fan of her (short) daily commute, analyzing Taylor Swift lyrics, and all things genuine and heartfelt. You’ll often find her daydreaming of summer days in Jackson Hole or sun kissed (sometimes sun burnt, both can happen) from adventures on her family’s flats boat. She holds fast to her dreams and ambitious spirit, while finding the balance of being wild at heart in the nine-to-five world.
